In Memory Of
Katie
(03/04/09 - 11/11/09)
On the 11th November 2009 Katie our gorgeous opal mini lop doe sadly passed away. Katie was my daughters bunny, she bought her with her birthday money this year.
Katie had her first litter of 5 kits on the 10th November 2009 and it was complications after the birth of the kits that caused her death. We tried everything we could to keep Katie alive but she gave up her fight for life the day after her kits were born.
Katie was a lovely bunny and always happy to sit on a lap and have a cuddle. She could be protective of her hutch occasionally but once out, she was as soft as anything with a gorgeous gentle nature. She loved a run and jump about the garden and was the perfect bunny for my daughter. Katie will be sadly missed!
Katies kits were fostered to a doe at Oakley Rabbit Stud as we had no does here with kits the same age. The kits did brilliantly and we are very grateful to Jane for taking them on for us.

Bunty
(05/10/09 - 03/12/10)
It is with great sadness that on the 7th December 2010 our beautiful Bunty was put to sleep.
Bunty joined Union Stud as a breeding doe earlier in the year. She successfully had her first litter on the 17th April 2010, a litter of 3. Sadly 2 of the babies died but Bunty went on to foster 3 more babies from another doe. She did a fantastic job of being a mum, until the babies reached 4 weeks old when I had to take her away from them because she wanted remating so desperately that she was pestering her babies and stressing them too much. Unfortunately only the foster babies survived and Buntys one remaining baby had to be put to sleep due to breathing difficulties.
We decided to give Bunty one more go as a mum and she had her 2nd litter on the 21st July 2010. Bunty gave birth to 4 babies, 2 of which were stillborn and one sadly died soon after birth. The one remaining baby was successfully raised and has gone on to make a lovely pet rabbit.
However while Bunty was raising this baby she suddenly lost her eyesight one day. She had a panic attack, as she was very confused and didnt know where she was. Once calmed, she was ok, The vets couldnt see anything physically wrong apart from the fact she couldnt see. There was no explanation for it, apart from some sort of neuological problem. The vet was sure she wasnt in any pain or distress so we agreed to bring her inside as out house rabbit where we could keep a close eye on her. After several days Bunty's eyesight came back, but over the coming weeks she would occasionally lose it and gain it again, each time having one of her panic episodes.
Then recently Bunty started having fits. These were quite severe and began to get closer together. Although she made a full recovery after each one and you would never have known to look at her most days, the last two fits were very severe and less than a week apart. Bunty was obviously in a great deal of distress and pain whilst having these final fits and we felt it just wasn't fair to keep putting her though these. We made the very tough decision to let Bunty die with dignity. She died very peacefully in my arms they way I wanted it to be.
Bunty was a lovely girl, always really friendly and gentle. She was always pleased to see us, always 'buzzing' with excitement when you opened her cage up, she made a fanastic house bunny. I would often spend time on the computer with Bunty laying on my lap or in my arms on her back like a baby. Bunty especially loved our cocker spaniel Jack, and he loved her just as much. He would often give her a good wash down and she loved him to do it!
Sitting here typing this isnt the same without our Bunty 'buzzing' behind me. Rest in peace beautiful Bunty, we miss you already!

Grace
(2007 - 3/6/11)
I was very saddened to hear that on the 3rd June 2011 the lovely Grace was put to sleep.
Grace has been a fantastic mum both here at Union stud and at Oakley stud, not only bringing up her own babies but also being a super foster mum. She was such a nice gentle girl and very loving. When Grace turned 3 years old she was retired to a lovely pet home with Pippa, along with a little doe out of Grace's last litter. I know Grace was very well looked after and extremely well loved in her new home.... I think she was a little spoilt too... which she thoroughly deserved in her retirement!
Sadly grace developed a tumor in her abdomen and there was nothing the vets could do to save her.
I know that Pippa will miss Grace terribly and that she will remember Grace for a long time.
Thank you Pippa for giving Grace such a lovely retirement home and for loving her as much as we did.

Hope
(16/10/09 - 24/1/13)
Well, I can't believe that I am actually sat here typing this. The loss of Hope was very sudden and a complete shock to me.
Hope was one of the first rabbits born at Union Stud and, more importantly, was my first ever show rabbit, so held a very special place in my heart.
Hope has produced me several super show rabbits and was a fantastic mum to all her babies, even taking on foster babies for other does.
Hope was a tough girl to get on with at first and was very hormonal, she was one of those that you never took your eyes off when she was pregnant otherwise she would have your hand in seconds (I have the scars to prove it!!), but over time and as she got more used to being a mum she mellowed and became a super soft girly.
I hope that Hope's daughter Heidi will follow in her mums footsteps and be as good as her mum was.
Hope was suddenly taken ill on the 24th January 2013, she had been absolutely fine the day before. I did everything I could to save her but sadly I think it was just her time and she passed away in my arms at about 10.30pm
Hope will be greatly missed by all of us, she really was one of the special ones!
RIP beautiful Hope, we will never forget you!
